LOWIACEAE   (Lowia)

Small suckering herbs with short stems bearing many distichous leaves. Inflorescence an irregularly branched cyme (no main bracts). Ovary with a long neck bellow sepals. Perianth members (sepals and petals) free, sepals large, one petal much larger than the others. Stamens 5, the blank opposite the large petal;
fruit dehiscent .

One genus (Orchidantha, also named Lowia), 6 species.
