  This attractive and fast growing palm is quite commonly sold in nurseries all over, yet is only truly hardy in coastal areas. It has less "hairs" on it's leaves than Washingtonia filifera, and has a smaller diameter trunk. The more compact crown has characteristic reddish streaks on the undersides of the petioles.
