Hayduke Rocks! an Earth First! Media and Action Network web site by Andy Caffrey. The Ecodefense of web sites! Rockin'!
The Ruckus Society-- Training camps for Direct Action activists! Focus and Mission: The Ruckus Society is committed to making other environmental activists and their campaigns more effective. Our staff has over 50 collective years of experience in strategic and technical areas that determine a campaign's success or failure. This expertise includes assistance and or training in:
The Ruckus Society is a non-profit California corporation and has received its tax exempt 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service. We organized in October of 1995. Since then, we have trained hundreds of activists and have assisted dozens of organizations, large and small.
GREEN the GrassRoots Environmental Effectiveness Network--GREEN is a project of Defenders of Wildlife. In today’s political climate, Washington DC lobbying isn’t going to win our battles. Appeals by national groups to their membership, telephone banks, and national media campaigns have their role. But none of them take the place of effective grassroots activism by local conservation leaders armed with comprehensive knowledge of what is brewing in the halls of Congress. Washington creates a new assault on our public lands and wildlife nearly every day.
GREEN is the network to come to for information and help in facing the challenges of grassroots activism. With GREEN you can depend on help targeted toward the issues you want to work on. You won’t get appeals to work on the "issue of the week." You won’t get saddled with pleas to help because you are a member of one group or another. You won’t get the kind of top-down "this is what you need to be doing" attitude. What you will get is information and action alerts targeted only toward protecting public lands and wildlife. You will get the training and tools you need to be an effective grassroots advocate.
GREEN works with grassroots activists to strengthen wildlife and public lands protections. Our focus is primarily on national legislation, but we work closely with organizations that will help you be effective on state laws and programs as well. We work with Defenders of Wildlife and the Center for Wildlife Law to share information on developments in the states relating to biodiversity issues.
Eco-action news site--This page will carry news (and links to more) of what's going on with EF! and related actions and campaigns from around the world.
Electronic Civil Disobedience and the World Wide Web of Hacktivism--A Mapping of Extraparliamentarian Direct Action Net Politics by Stefan Wray
A new technical primer written by Free Radio Berkeley's Stephen Dunifer on how to start your own micro-power FM radio station in your community is now available on the web in html. This material is FREE of charge, of course. A .pdf version with diagrams will also be available in the very near future. Take media into your own hands. Seize the airwaves!
Radio for whom?......The airwaves nominally belong to the people, but the reality is most of the media outlets worldwide are owned by a steadily smaller number of large corporations who use them to expand their wealth and power. Even the so-called "public stations" increasingly take corporate money or emulate corporate paradigms. This means communities and individuals are increasingly shut out of the process of determining what information they receive. A right of "Free Speech" that only the rich can exercise is no right at all !
"The FCC can kiss my Bill of Rights"
----Stephen Dunifer
Since Monday, Nov 23 Free Radio activists have been engaging in a non-stop broadcast from atop a redwood tree in a park in Berkeley, CA, to protest the shutdown of Free Radio Berkeley by the FCC, and the FCC's continuing campaign of harassment against micropower broadcasters. The A-infos Radio Project has compiled a special report with articles, pictures and eyewitness reports, and will be linking to a live feed of Tree Radio Berkeley soon.
Earth Day Every Day--The Earth Day Every Day Radio Station Project is a coalition of individuals, organizations, publications and businesses, which believes the media has a responsibility to adequately inform the public regarding current and forecasted threats to the biological integrity of the Earth. In working together to purchase a radio station in a metropolitan area of the U.S. devoted to fully integrated (socio-environmental) programming, the coalition intends to initiate positive changes within the listening area and to influence sources of mainstream media by providing a clear example of responsible ecological broadcasting.
Eco-warrior Minstrels! A Directory--A Movement is about motion,
about energy, about action. It is founded upon e-motion, and some of the
best people to transform emotion into strategic action are the musicians
listed here. Most of these musicians tour around the country and beyond, and are no strangers to activism themselves. They are amazing performers and deserve your support. Believe me, these activist perfomers give back far more than their activist incomes give to them.
