MOTHER OF SLAIN ACTIVIST REVEALS COVER UP

Cindy Allsbrooks, mother of slain redwood forest activist, David Nathan "Gypsy" Chain will speak to the press for the first time since her sons death on September 17, 1998. A news conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, 11:00 a.m., at the San Francisco Federal Building, 450 Golden Gate Avenue in the Press Room on the 18th Floor.
At the news conference Ms. Allsbrooks will set forth the basis for her fears that the Humboldt County Sheriffs Department is incapable of conducting a professional, impartial investigation into her son's death. She will discuss the chilling details of a meeting she had with the Detective in charge of the investigation earlier this week. Allsbrooks will also explain why she believes the policies and practices of Pacific Lumber Company were responsible for the tragic, unnecessary death.
Chain was killed when a tree cut by a Pacific Lumber Co. logger struck him in the head during a protest on a steep hillside near Grizzly Creek State Park in Humboldt county. A video tape taken during the protests captures the company logger threatening to fall trees at the activists within an hour of Chains' death.
Allsbrooks, a native and resident of Texas and mother of three, has spent considerable time trying to find the truth of how and why her son died. Additional documents and photographic material will be available at the time of the news conference.
Ms. Allsbrooks and her counsel will be available for questions following her statement.
