According to Velma (Huff) Meredith the grandaughter of Alpheous he was a
big man standing about 6 feet tall and not fat, but plain muscle. He was
large boned so could carry a lot of muscle. It is told that he had snow
white hair and a long beard. Some of the children used to call him Santa
Claus.
Alpheous and Catherine also had twin boys who were stillborn. Also a
girl that died in childhood. It appears that there was some confusion in
the naming of the first two boys, it appears the first son was to be
named Wallace Dubois Huff and according to Velma he was wallace dubois
Huff but under protest of the family the name was changed to Benjamin H.
