Zanclus cornutus

Sodwana Bay - South Africa - June 1988

The Moorish Idol is closely related to the surgeonfishes. It’s highly contrasted color pattern and graceful shape are responsible for its universal praise among aquarists and coral reef enthusiasts.

It is common on most coral reefs and is widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific from the coast of Central America westward to East Africa and the Red Sea.
