THE CHUNNEL
This page is dedicated to the first project I did in Mr. Dolloff's Tech Ed. class.
My first project was to research the Channel Tunnel (The Chunnel),
The channel tunnel was first thought of in 1802, and in the late 19th. century, a tunnel under the British chunnel was started, and then abandoned for lack of funding.
In 1873, the British and the French worked together to build a roadway under the Engilsh Channel, but it was put on hold from 1975 to 1978. When the French and British national railway commission took over the project.
Now the tunnel is 31 miles long, consisting of three tunnels, two rail tunnels and one service tunnel. The tunnels cut the travel time between England and France from ten hours th three.
