Tests are only an indication that there may be a concern but will not give accurate amounts stored in the body. The MELISA test will show an oversensitivity to mercury and other heavy metals. Hair analysis only shows how much is in hair. DMSA will only show what is stored in kidneys. (Some people have adverse effects.) Medical tests and essential minerals show irrational values closer to upper and lower limits an experienced practioner may be able to interpret these. Glutations-peroxidase will show whether the body's main defense against mercury or heavy metals is exhausted/overworked. Therefore if a large percentage of mercury symptom's exist along with excessive dental work, the first toxicological rule of mercury is removal of the source. It is also found advantageous to remove all metals. Clearing heavy metals and mercury from the body is chelation therapy, there are many natural remedies the most used are NAC, vitamins B1, B6, A, C, yogurt and a constant supply of magnesium. Vitamin C IV during removal of amalgam has shown an increase in the removal of a few harmful heavy metals via the stool. Chinese parsley (cilantro/corriandrum) in large amounts has also been researched for its ability to chelate mercury through urine. At the same time, reduce toxicity from chlorination, fluoridation, artificial and processed foods and the numerous environmental toxins. Make the best judgement in picking an amalgam free dentist, skilled with composites, aware of the hazards and utilizing good protective protocols.
