The global telecommunications industry and its associated networks are undergoing preparations for massive changes in the next decade to provide faster and more reliable services, especially for video and data traffic. These Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDN) will also depend upon the provision of many different forms of service, including the ability to have more than one destination in a connection {\em (multicast)}. This paper presents the design and performance studies of a small-scale communications switch which can provide such a multicast service. It has been found to be simple to implement and offers a performance comparable with more complex designs.
