On Thursday, July 9th, 1998, I had the pleasure of attending a show that Anekdoten put on at a club (now closed) called Phantasmagoria in Wheaton, Maryland (outside Washington, DC). If you look at their gig list for 1998, you'll see a fan's review of this performance.
I took 2 days off work so I could travel to see the band in Maryland and do some sightseeing in Washington, DC, over the weekend. They only did 3 shows on this "mini-tour": the first in Quebec, Canada, and the second in Pennsylvania, USA. Phantasmagoria was the last show and it their web site shows these three as the only shows for all of 1998.
This was my first experience using a camera at a show like this and my inexperience probably shows. I should have at least used a film more appropriate for the lighting and to take into account the fact that I wouldn't be using the flash. I don't know, perhaps I was expecting too much of my simple camera altogether. I was using 200 speed film (which I've always understood was a pretty good film for general use) with a Nikon "Zoom Touch" 500 camera and I scanned the pictures with a Mustek 600 III EP Plus.
These are pictures of the band during their soundcheck and the performance, I can't even tell exactly which is which right now. What I've scanned are the best of the best. Some pictures I didn't even bother paying for after they were developed. Others I thought were too blurry or poorly lit to show. Click on the photo on this page to see a bigger version.
