AUTOEXEC.BAT File Information
The AUTOEXEC.BAT file is different from a standard DOS batch file only because it is automatically executed when your computer starts. Other than that, it is the same as any other DOS batch file; just a list of single line commands. The commands in this file load programs needed by your computer to setup CDROM drives, mouse controllers, caches, and memory management tools. For this reason, care should be taken whenever you make changes to this file, or some of these devices may stop working. You can edit it in any ANSI editor such as NOTEPAD.EXE or EDIT.COM on your computer. Besure to follow proper editing procedure of always make a copy of the file before you make any changes to it.
