THE FLAG

After five years of reflection, between 1950 and 1955, The European Council designed the European flag. This choice would be accepted by the Community 31 years later, in 1986. The blue was the choused color because the black already symbolized Africa, the red symbolized America and the green the Oceania. When twelve members only constituted Europe, unlike what thinked the European Community citizens, the golden stars didn't correspond each one to each State, like the American flag stars. Like the disposition of the stars in circle, their number isn't variable because it's one emblem of plenitude and perfection, evoking at the same time the Jacob's sons and the Christ's apostles, the Rome's tables of laws, the Zodiac's signs, the Hercules works, the months of the year and a mystic passage of the Apocalypse: "Appeared on the sky an amazing sign. It was a woman dressed like the sun, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars in her head." (Chapter XII, of course.) Once that is only explicit the sex and not the identity, nothing stops identifying the heroine described as being the ninfa Europe kidnapped by Jupiter, in the skin of a bull.

SHENGEN

The cooperation in internal affairs and justice is ruled by the principle of intergovernments cooperation. This document covers essentialy four sectors:

It includes almost all the Countries in EU, except United Kingdom, and includes also Norway and Island.

EURO

January 1, 2002 is the starting date of EURO, the new currency created by 12 Countries of the European Union which is something unique, never tried before in the world.

Countries IN the EURO: Germany, France, Italy, Austrich, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Finland and Greece.

Countries OUT: United Kingdom, Denmark and Sweden.

CURIOSITY: The Greek police had to use tear gas to disperse, in Athens, demonstrators that were protesting in front of the Parliament against the signature of the Shengen's deal, where two persons were arrested. This demonstration was organized by groups against the utilization of the number "666", the anti-Christ sign according to the Saint John's Apocalypse, in the computer codes connected to the Greece entering the Shengen's space.
