Wendy Orlean Williams
1949 - 1998

On the night of April 6th 1998, Wendy O. Williams, lead singer of anarchic-punk band The Plasmatics, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head. She was aged 48. Her body was found in a wooded area near her home in Storrs, Connecticut, by her former manager and confidant Rod Swenson. Wendy was well known for her shocking stage antics that dubbed her as "the queen of shock rock". Motorhead fans will especially remember her collaboration with Lemmy (see photo). While her band recorded a cover of Motorhead's "No Class", Motorhead did a cover of The Plasmatics' "Masterplan". But their most memorable work together was when Wendy and Lemmy teamed for a duet to record their version of the Tammy Wynette classic "Stand By Your Man".
