I am called the Watcher...

and I observe the activities on and around the blue sphere known as the Earth. But unknown to all save a priveleged few, the Earth operates on an axis of time. Slight shifts in that axis result in parallel timelines, in which events may differ from the others..

It is in one such timeline that there are no actual heroes such as the Avengers or Fantastic Four or X-Men. There are however companies -- giant conglomerates who publish the adventures of characters that are identical to those from the timeline where these heroes actually exist and live out their lives in a manner identical to their depictions. And it is in this timeline in which the heroes exist only as concepts and drawings that eventually are released to the people of that Earth in the form known as the comic book that a certain fan fiction writer asked the question
