“Yes. [and i will] use my leadership to defeat a desecration of the Constitution that the President is putting there to diminish freedom in our country." - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi when asked yesterday on Fox News if she supports same-sex marriage. This is the first time Pelosi has come out for full marriage equality.

Musgrave Love

Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), the anti-gay activist turned congresswoman, has seen her anti-marriage amendment flounder in the U.S. Senate. In four months, it has only picked up a handful of Senate co-sponsors. Even staunchly anti-gay Senators feared that the amendment's harsh language would make them appear intolerant.

So on Monday, Musgrave and fellow Colorado Republican, Senator Wayne Allard (who introduced Musgrave's measure in the Senate) held an emergency press conference to announce a new version of the amendment. The latest version differs from the original by deleting the phrase, "nor state or federal law" in the second sentence. This, claimed Musgrave and Allard, would enable states to enact civil unions and domestic partnership legislation. But that isn't the case.
