Bioethics Institutes
(and other related organizations)
A very attractive, well designed site from the Medical School of The University
of Pennsylvania. The site covers a wide range of important topics
in bioethics. Very worth visiting.
The Eubios Institute is engaged in a great deal of scholarly activity both
in journal articles and collaboration/colloquia. The site simply
lists links to explore these various offerings. There is lots here
but little in the way of art work or design is included for fans of graphics.
The ASBH is the professional association of bioethicists. It has all
the basic information one would expect from a organizational web site and
is well worth investigating.
This site has extensive bibliographies of books and journal articles in
alphabetical order (by author) grouped by topic. It also has
an online database (BIOETHICSONLINE), an archive and library publications.
Many different resources for the avid researcher.
ARENA describes itself as "a membership organization for those involved
in the day-to-day application of ethical principles, governmental regulations,
and other policies regarding research and clinical practice." It
is a membership association as is ASBH but tends to attract healthcare
professionals more than professional philosophers. Its parent association,
Public
Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R), has a primarily
educational mission whereas ARENA has a networking focus.
