The wooden stick and two serpents represent the original caduceus of medicine from the ancient, pre-Christian Egyptian times as the wand of Aescepulus, the god of healing. The DNA helix represents the most modern and futuristic approach to medicine as researchers begin to map the Genome and cure diseases at the most basic molecular level. The brain represents the final frontier of human consciousness in its neuropsychological and phenomenological detail. The helix and brain together stand for the goal of cephalic transplantation into genetically identical body doubles.

The metallic bar balances the Scales of Justice, the long standing symbol of the legal profession. The scales are not empty though. What lawyers, philosophers, social scientists and commentators must weight are the Book of Knowledge applying to expertise and skill in transplantation, cloning, etc. and the Passionately Burning Lamp of Wisdom which applies to the search for perspective and reflection on such important matters.
