Employment

AppliedReasoning - Cary, NC

Classic Blend Project:

Large, mission-critical product. Member of development team for large enterprise Smalltalk/Java application server. Network/Internet based product, extensive cross-platform coding, troubleshooting and testing.

Also provided individual sales-related support to certain important customers; this often involved creating fixes under extreme time pressure with little written documentation. Helping the product develop to meet the needs of our clients has been a source of great pride to me.

Responsible for developing deployment system for the 2.0 release of Classic Blend. Developed turn-key instillation of the product, which works on a variety of platforms. Product can install itself on supported platforms, perform varios sanity tests, and integrate with the appropriate Java environment.

Distributed DDF Project:

Major, time-critical backport of large (~1000 classes) java product from jdk1.2 to jdk1.1 to accommodate major client who needed to deploy on platforms for which there is no 1.2 VM available. Developed work-alikes for much of the Java2D API, and helped devise solution such that we were able to use the same code base for our product, and compile it for JDK 1.2 or 1.1 as necessary. The timely completion of this project was instrumental in our company securing a multi-million dollar contract with the client.

Webmaster:

Technical lead for team performing complete redesign of company web site. Personally responsible for engineering and coding issues, and web server administration. Hardware was SGI Indy model, software was Netscape Enterprise server on SGI IRIX. The project was a success, resulting in a much more attractive, better organized, and more useful website.
