Maybe I was suffering from video game overload; in any case I didn't feel like going the third day of E3 2002. Nevertheless, I still had a great time and saw a lot of cool games (and other stuff). There are no screen shots here; it would be superfluous considering the coverage of IGN and GameSpot, or when the games eventually come out. Click on a thumbnail below to see a larger image. |

The band Adema gave a live performance at Midway's booth. Jurassic 5 and Dry Kill Logic were there on the other days. |
Another shot of Adema. |

An ad for a device called the ButtKicker. It's like a subwoofer that attaches to your couch--you literally feel the bass. Kinda cool, actually. |
This is how you look when you feel the ButtKicker for the first time. |
Legendary artists Don Bluth, Rick Dyer, Gary Goldman, and John Pomeroy were on hand to promote a new Dragon's Lair game. Mr. Bluth is second from the right. |
The handcuffs are part of a magic show. Really! |
The CyMouse is a controller you wear on your head... |

I never realized the cool CD shapes people have made. One has teeth like a sawblade. |
Jam Kuradoberi and Millia Rage from Guilty Gear X. (composite image) |
Activision had its traditional halfpipe. |
Another famous(?) skateboarder on Activision's halfpipe. |
HanbitSoft, a Korean game company, hired a very good magician. |
This very cute girl is somewhere inside the magic box above. |
The best costumes of E3, these Medabots would be a real crowd pleaser at Anime Expo! |
The P5 glove-like peripheral. |

A closer look at the P5 in action. |

Tina Jordan, Playboy's Miss March 2002 , was on hand to promote jigsaw-puzzle software. The jigsaws on the right are of Playboy Playmates; the left, "Loveable Cats." |
A cute slime creature presumably from Ragnarok Online. |
Another denizen of Ragnarok Online? |
Another 1:1 scale slime from Ragnarok Online. |
Evolution Robotics, Inc. had some really cool robots on hand. This one would fetch a soda (or beer) for you, and it could visually tell one brand from another. |
Another view of the "personal robot" from Evolution Robotics, Inc. |
The Rotokiller mouse. A gamer's mouse. I think it even swivels. |
My friend Scott Peterson was also at E3. |

Girls promoting a snowboarding game. |

No, they're not playing Who Wants to be a Millionaire? It's the online SOCOM: US Navy SEALs for the PS2. (courtesy of Jamal Rorie) |

Part of EA's big booth. (courtesy of the IDSA) |

Will Wright (left) and Yu Suzuki, two masters of game design. Mr. Wright's many great games includes The Sims; Mr. Suzuki's, Shenmue. |
Will Wright expounding on game design. He gives *really good* presentations. |
