    My Interests

    Horses

For as long as I can remember, I've always had a fascination with horses, and horseback riding.  Currently I have 1 horse of my own.  Back in August I lost my very first foal ,ever, to Colic.  I have brought along a couple of pictures of her:  Her name was Sadi.

    Poems

My grandmother always loved to recite poems, and in my years of growing up there were a few that I fell in love with.

Back Home From One Senior Citizen to Another
If I had the power to turn back the clock,
Go back to that house, at the end of the block,
The house that was home, when I was a kid,
I know that I'd love it - more than I did.
And if I could be back by my mother's knee,
And hear once again all the things she told me,
I'd listen, like I never listened before,
For she knew so well, what was in store.
And all the advice my dad used to give,
His voice I'll remember - as long as I live.
But it didn't seem really important then,
What I'd give, to live it all over again.
And what I'd give for the chance that I had,
To do so much more for my Mother and Dad.
To give them more joy and a little less pain,
A little more sunshine - a little less rain.
But the years roll by and we cannot go back,
Whether we were born in a mansion or shack,
But we can start right now - in the hour that's here,
To do something for the ones we hold dear.
And since time in its' flight is traveling so fast,
Let's not spend it regretting that which is past,
But let's make tomorrow a happier day,
By doing our "good unto others" today.
Just a note to say I'm among the living,
That I'm not among the dead,
    Though I'm getting more forgetful,
And mixed up in the head,
    For sometimes I can't remember
When I stand at the foot of the stair,
If I must go up for something,
Or I've just come down from there.
And beside the fridge so often,
My poor mind is filled with doubt,
Have I just put some food away?
Or have I come to take some out?
And there's times when it is dark out
With my nightcap on my head,
     I don't know if I'm retiring,
Or just getting out of bed.
But remember I do love you
And wish that you were here,
But now it's nearly mail time,
And I must say, "good-bye, dear."
There I stood beside the mailbox,
With a face so very red,
Instead of mailing you my letter,
    I just opened it, instead.
