DeVry EET Senior Project

M.A.R.V.

(Medical Assistant Retrieval Vehicle)

My team members and I have developed a project that we call M.A.R.V.; it is a rover unit that responds to the push of a button located on a RF transmitter. When this occurs M.A.R.V. disconnects from a docking station and begins traveling to the location of the person that pushed the button. The purpose of this project was to develop a rover unit that could deliver supplies to disabled people if they required assistance. The rover carries medical supplies that the person can use (pills, phone, etc.). The rover is guided by a preprogrammed list of instructions that will lead the rover to a beambreaker in the house. The beam becomes broken when that person enters the room and it resets when that person leaves the room. From there the rover is guided by an IR led located on the person. The rover will also use ultrasonic sensors (transducers) to guide it around the room. When it finally reaches the individual it becomes notified that it has found the person by a switch located on the rover. There were also plans to make the rover return to it's original location; however, due to time restraints this is what will be presented at our senior project fair.
