| This is a page I wrote to keep track of the cows and calves on the farm. I have found that a webpage is very usefull because of the way it can organize information. The 'find on this page' option on most browsers makes it easy to locate anything on the page, even if it is '300 cows' long. The pictures are taken with a camcorder and a video capture card. I have pictures of the whole herd in my computer in less time than it would take me to run to the store for a roll film! When a calf is born I place it's picture in the folder with the webpage and name it according to the cow and the picture appears in it's spot on the page with the cow. No picture means no calf yet. The information (birthday, weight, sex, etc.) is entered through 'veiw source' in Internet Explorer. This doesn't work with Netscape but if you're running Windows then you probably have I. E.! A page editor like Frontpage Express or Netscape Composer would also work, I imagin, but I personally haven't found a page editor, other than Notepad, that I can stand. The pictures a very compressed for quick downloading, and this page has only ten cows on it as an example. |
