RE-INCARNATION OF RADHA AS VASANTHA SAI
I want to mention here about Sri Sathya Sai Vratha Kalpamu (Sathya Sai Worship Procedures) written by Smt Sarada Devi (Peddabottu)
Smt Sarada Devi, an ardent devotee originally of Shirdi Baba and later of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, wrote this in Telugu which was blessed by none other than Swami Himself. This was printed and published in Telugu in 1985 She referred this Vratha Kalpamu in her autobiography, also published by her in 1985 in Telugu. Some outstanding excerpts from the autobiography are given below which are enlightening:
HOW THIS VRATHA KALPAMU TOOK SHAPE (in the words of the authoress herself)
"...... first of all, I had no intention of writing this Vratha Kalpamu, Then I happened to come across a Vratha Kalpamu in respect of the past Avathar of Shirdi Sai.
It occurred to me that if there could be a Vratha Kalpamu for an Avathar of long past, it should be more appropriate to have one for the living Avathar, who is currently captivating and fascinating the whole world….
"When I made up my mind to write this, I was staying with Dr. Saraswati in Amalapuram. Swami appeared to me in a dream and proffered a few directions in this regard. At that time I was planning to follow the pattern of the popular 'Sri Sathya Narayana Katha Kalpamu' i.e., begin Sri Sathya Sai Vratha Kalpamu with 'Nava Graha Sthaapana', etc. In my dream, Swami asked me why I was thinking of writing on those lines. I replied 'I know no other way'. Kindly guide me and I will follow.'
Gesticulating with His hands in His characteristic way, Swami told me to make the whole thing simple; commence with Ganapathi Pooja, follow it up with His own Pooja, and conclude with the Katha Section(story). This book is thus patterned on the lines indicated by Swami.
"The Katha Section of Sri Sathya Narayana Vratha Kalpamu comprises stories of five devotees. Which five devotees should I select for my book (Sathya Sai Vratha Kalpamu)? In my dream somehow I failed to seek Swami's directions in this regard. So I placed my dilemma before Sri Kasturi and sought his help. He said 'whose stories will you pick up? This may lead to unpleasantness all around. Let me think over it.'
"That night Swami appeared in my dream and said, 'you stupid! Do you think that I have just a mere five devotees only?. There are millions of them. If you pick up any five individuals, the others will be after you. Choosing a time when I am away, they will twist your neck and throw your body in the Chithravathi river. Don't pick up any particular individual's story; write only my own.' That solved my problem.
"Next day, I was mulling over the appropriate shape to be given to the Katha section and to apportion it into five chapters. In Sathyam, Shivam and Sundaram (Swami's life story) Swami had declared that in the first 16 years he would display His leelas, in the next 16 years, His Mahimas and thereafter He would deliver his message and exhortations (bodhaas) and carry out His divine programme. To my great relief, that came to my mind and offered me a clear-cut plan of action. The Katha Section thus fell into a logical and beautiful sequence; the first chapter is 'Leela Kaanda', the second 'Mahima Kaanda', the third 'Raksha Kaanda', the fourth 'Shikshaa Kaanda' and the fifth and final one, 'Bodhaa Kaanda'. My path was clear and I completed the book on those lines.
The finished manuscript, I kept in my box. "Then a strange thing happened. When I opened the book one day, I found that numerous additions and alterations had been made in red ink. They were all in the unmistakable hand of Swami Himself.!
For instance, wherever I had used the words, 'Sarva Devathaa Swaroopa',they were altered in beautiful script in red, to read ' Sarva Devathaatheetha Swaroopa'. Similarly, where I had written that ' He used to gather children of the village in groups and take them around singing bhajans', it was amended to read, 'take them around,
Elsewhere, he added in dear and beautiful hand that 'Dharma is eternal and immutable.' I found that the entire text had been gone through and amended by Swami.
"Readers may consider this unbelievable, but it is indeed the simple, plain truth. What more is needed by way of proof to declare that Sri Sathya Sai Vratha Kalpamu, as it now stands, has the full approval of Swami. ?
At the end, in Swasthi, I had written that those who performed this Vrathamu would be blessed with Swami's protection. Swami amplified it saying that'Swami would grant them fulfilment of their hearts' desires and take complete care of them at all times and with immense love. "I must add here that I had never informed Swami that I had completed this book nor did I give him the manuscript.
"Astonished at what I found, I mentioned it to Sri Kasthuri. He remarked, 'Centuries ago when the Saint-cum-composer,' Pothana' was translating the epic Mahaa Bhaagavatham from Sanskrit to Telugu, Sri Rama Himself, its is said, contributed to his text. Blessed are you. Please safeguard your manuscript.' I have accordingly kept it in safe custody"
My son Vijay (born on 2.12.83) was complaining of severe headaches intermittently right from the beginning of the year 1997. The intensity and frequency increased during the months of July and August 97. Once or twice these headaches were accompanied by instances of vomiting as well. Most of the times these occurred during late nights. Under doctors’ advices, dispirin or other pain killers were given to the patient.
On August 16, at the suggestion of the family doctor, Mathur of Green Park, an eye specialist at the Mohinder Hospital was consulted and he suspected something wrong in the brain and advised an immediate C.T. Scan of the brain. The Aaslok Hospital which carried out the C.T. Scan advised further MRI Scanning as they suspected a tumour in the brain according to the C.T. Scan. An MRI was done at the Sehgals Nursing Home and the MRI report confirmed a tumour in the brain. Dr. Ravi Bhatia, Neuro Surgeon at Apollo Hospital was consulted then and he confirmed the tumour and that an operation was to be performed on the patient at the earliest for removal of the tumour .
Vijay was admitted in Apollo Hospital on Aug 21 and the operation was scheduled on the 23rd.. Nearly 40 years back my mother’s younger sister was operated by Dr. Ramamoorthy for benign brain tumour, but she never became alright and died within 3 years. This thought was uppermost in my mind and I was not at all happy about the operation. Yet there was no other go as all the leading Neurologists had advised an early operation.
On August 23, 1997 the moment Vijay was taken into the O.T. at 7.30.A.M. I got inside the prayer hall in Apollo Hospital along with a portrait of Satya Sai Baba got by me at Brindaban, Whitefield in June 1996, and started intensely praying , taking rests in between. Strangely I was repeatedly praying to Baba, that the operation should go on well but there should not be any tumour.
The team of doctors came out at around 1.30P.M. The chief neurosurgeon was sweating and looking perplexed. He said the operation was successful but he was surprised to see no tumour where there ought to be one and instead there was a lesion. He said he had scrapped some pieces out of it and sent them for biopsy.
I was the only believer of Satya Sai Baba in the midst of the whole lot of my relatives. My wife believed in Sirdhi Sai Baba only. And I know for sure, Baba had answered my prayers. It must be He who must have removed the tumour, the presence of which had been confirmed by all scan reports and doctors.!
Later, on August 27 the biopsy report was released and it said that the specimen given was not sufficient and the doctors advised further investigation. In the meanwhile, Vijay again started getting the head ache and he started pestering me to take him to Baba at Puttaparthi (Believe me, till then he never spoke of any Saibaba) and I decided that I must take him to Baba. Well, who was I to decide? It was Baba’s decision: because everything started working for me.
My cousin Shri K.V. Krishnamurthy at Bangalore, an ardent devotee of Baba and also a Seva Dal had fixed an appointment on 20th September 97, with Dr. Verma, formerly head of NIMHANS at Bangalore.
On the evening of 16 SEP 97 I took Vijay by flight to Bangalore. At this juncture I must express my immense gratitude to my benevolent employers OXFAM at U.K., who met all medical expenses for my son’s illness, On the night (early morning of Sep 17 at about 2.00 A.M.) my cousin Sri K.V. Krishnamurthy, his wife Indira and son Mahesh took us in their car to Puttaparthi.
Strange are the ways of Baba as many devotees have experienced and have confirmed. My cousins have gone to Puttaparthi on many occasions in their car, but still on that early morning, they missed out the route to Puttaparthi and detoured via another village. In between, the car head light also did not function. So by the time we reached Puttaparthi, completely exhausted, Baba’s early morning Darshan was already over and people had started queuing up for the canteen token. So we all thought we should have the Darshan only in the evening at around 4.00 P.M
However, A sevadal known to my cousin, suggested that I should stand along with my son Vijay (who was at that time suffering from head ache) at the exit point of Sai Kulwant Hall through which Baba might come out for going to the Cricket ground, which was under preparation during that time.
I and my son are the most blessed, I am sure, for within about 10 minutes, Baba came out in His new BMW and as he came near to where we were standing, He looked up with his hand in a blessing posture and particularly smiled at my son Vijay, (showing a clear message on his face, that he was excepting us there!) I could feel the enormity and intensity of the love in his face and that very instant my child Vijay shouted in joy saying, “ Papa, my head ache is gone”. There was no physical touching of my son. His direct eye to eye contact was all that happened and the miracle indeed took place. Of course, the miracle had already happened at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. This is only a subsequent confirmation of that.
In the evening when we were seated for Darshan, my son had a letter originally written in which he had requested Baba to cure him of his head ache. After collecting few letters from some of the women devotees he came straight to where we were seated as if he knew we were there and collected my son’s letter through me.
My cousins were immensely delighted, because my visit to Puttaparthi proved fruitful. We returned the same day to Bangalore. After 2 days we took Vijay to Dr. Verma as per appointment. He heard the entire case and we also told everything about our visit to Baba. He examined the boy thoroughly and came out with his advice.
These were his exact words. “Baba is The Greatest of all Surgeons. He is the Surgeon of surgeons. He has cured this young child. The child will not have any problem any more. Even if head ache does come some times, ignore it as a common head ache”.
We again went back to Putaparthi on Sep 22nd to witness a spectaular ceremony,. Procession of Baba, seated in a Golden Chariot . What a heartfilling experience it was ! It seems in Sukra naadi it has been foretold that on this day Mahavishnu would go in a procession seated in a Golden Chariot!
My son Vijay at that time was only 13. He never spoke of Satya Sai Baba before. Yet, now a days without lighting up an agarbatti before Baba”s portrait he does not leave for school. Even though he had missed three months of school he has caught up with his studies and had gone to the 10th standard with very good marks.
It is only now I realise that it was by Baba”s grace that I had given up smoking abruptly in Sep 1991 ( till then for at least 26 years I was a chain smoker, smoking on an average, 60 cigarettes a day and when a Professor friend of mine gave me a portrait of Baba in 1987 I just placed it along with the pictures of other Gods without in the least expecting the change that was to come in me later) Somewhere in 1980 after seeing my chest X-rays, the doctors (particularly my aunte’ Dr. S. Padmavati, the leading Cardiologist) had warned me to give up smoking as my lungs were already affected by smoking.
However, in 1994 when I had a heart attack and got admitted in the hospital for 10 days, with 3 days in the ICU, a chest X-ray taken during that time, showed that my lungs were completly clear and there were no traces of any nicotin!
What other proof is needed to show that Baba loves and cares even when we do not think of him but however do our duties with utmost devotion
Today, on the 12th November 1998, as I post this narrative on this web page, more than 15 months after my son Vijay had been blessed by Swami, I tell you an absolute truth. I just did not go to any doctor much against medical advice ,after Swami’s blessing of my son. I was to have carried out regular brain scans of Vijay but I never went near any doctor or any hospital. My son is perfectly okay. Why should I worry when Swami is looking after him? He as well as I, daily after bath, without chanting the Sai Ashtothra Shatha Namavalis ( call it Nameopathy like Allopathy, Homeopathy, Naturopathy), do not eat anything.
This Photo shown below is what my son Vijay got in Puttaparthi searching the entire Market there, saying this was how Swami appeared to him continuously during his stay in the Apollo Hospital
The following is a copy of a letter I posted to the Sai-Net and I got different kinds of responses from my Sai sisters and brothers.
This is something I want to share with all of you. I am thrilled as well as amazed. The first thing I did immediately after getting an internet connection was to enrol myself with the Sai Electronic Satsangh.
During last week my colleague in the office, knowing I am a Sai devotee, saved some pictures from the internet (including the Healing Lingam ) in a separate folder which he promised to copy on to a separate floppy for me.
That night while I was working in my computer I looked in the “brief case” and found all those picture files stored. Though my initial reaction was one of amazement I thought I must have copied them myself from some floppy. However I could not locate in my home any floppy with these picture files. So I took an empty floppy and copied all these pictures into that with a view to get them printed in my office printer. Let me now come to the miracle part of the whole episode.
Even after switching off my modem ( naturally this is done only after disconnecting the internet)I was able to open up each picture on the file either from “my brief case” or from the floppy and could double click each picture (wherever it was meant) to enlarge it etc.
It did not strike me that these files required internet connection for opening. It was only after my sister-in-law took the floppy on this Sunday for getting these pictures transferred to her hard disc at home and after she told me that she was not able to open any files because she was not having any internet connection, did everything strike to me. Also now I am not able to open these pictures without the aid of internet.
I do not have any explanation to offer except to convince myself that what happened was a “ Sai Electronic Miracle”. Of course, the so-called “rationalist” friends of mine may just scoff at this but I must share this with all of my Sai sisters and brothers.
After the miraculous cure of my son Vijay) I am convinced Swami controls every activity in this Cosmos.
Sincerely
V. Krishnan
Sai Ram !
My wife is an ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba and was never believing in Sathya Sai Baba until last year when during August/September 97, my son Vijay was miraculously cured of his brain tumour and the accursed head ache, by Swami(episode in Sanathana Sarathi of April 98 and renarrated in this web page).
I am not at all wishing that anyone should have such a trying experience in order to make him/her believe in Swami!
Karma is very powerful.
I am just reminded of a most blessed couple living in Delhi, both of them Sai Bhakts and excellent bhajan singers. The husband Mr. Rajan is working in UNICEF and the wife in Canadian High Commission. Both of them go to various places upon invitation for bhajan singing spending their own money and taking Sai pictures along with them wherever the need arises.
Some time back they were invited by some one in Lucknow (U.P). There was a gathering of more than 500 people. The entire bhajan session was being videoed.
The scene changed back to Lucknow gathering, but the crowd started clapping and singing "Ana padega, Sai ana padega" . Then it seems the scene of whitefield repeated again!
I am just repeating this story as told by the couple and they are known to be very pious and righteous and not the bluffing or exaggerating type. They are having the video copy with them.
