ON - TAXES AND THE EUROPEAN UNION
Articles from "Freedom Today"
[ Up-dated 23 May 2000 ]
[When 11 European countries joined the Economic & Monetary Union (EMU) on 1 January 1999, the United Kingdom - mercifully - was not among them. That fact was small cause for either celebration or relief for the many who see the 'euro' as not simply an (unwise) 'economic construct' but also as a thoroughly dangerous 'political assault' on Britain's priceless heritage and freedom.
The February/March 1999 issue of "Freedom Today",the Journal of "The Freedom Association", carried the first of its series of articles by Christopher J. K. Arkell examining the myriad dangers of EMU for Britain. Following earlier publication of these articles as 'separate' items on this site, their cumulating impact - as the effort of one thoughtful, knowledgeable and concerned individual - warrants a central base of reference and access. This bookmarkable page serves that role, for present and future purposes....BG]
"CJKA is not in the normal run of archetypal accountants. He combines many years of tax accountancy with in-depth study of all the European Union treaties and in particular EU plans for fiscal and currency 'harmonisation' to gain overall political control of every member state, as recommended byLenin.
He is also a prolific composer of satirical verse and is the owner/editor of 'London Miscellany',a private circulation periodical of acknowledged wit and elegance that finds its way onto some of the most influential desks and coffee tables in the land.
He likes to relax by walking for miles in the Somerset or Czech hills with his Russian born wife Marina and may re-invigorate the organ and foundations of any local church encountered along the way with his enthusiastic and skilful touch.
CJKA is a specialist tax adviser to a major international group and his own tax consultancy has a clutch of
East European corporate clients. A conservative by nature, CJKA is a passionate patriot and is making a substantial contribution to the 'battle for men's minds' by constantly watching out for and alerting people to the perils of creeping socialism and totalitarian bureaucracy."
