Minds in Motion
students use CAD software to design cities in rainforest
by Brian Meakim
This summer in Computer Ease students will be creating their own city
in the Rainforest. Students will be using the Internet to gain valuable
information about Rainforests and cities. They will be using paper
and pencil to generate rough sketches of their buildings. They will
use these drawings to help them create a blueprint in “TurboCad”.
“TurboCad” is a Computer Aided Drafting program. In a group the students
will organize their city. The next step will be to create a three
dimensional version of their city in “TurboCad 3D” The final exercise will
be the creation of a virtual tour. This project will enhance the
students’ critical thinking skills, spatial reasoning skills, and allow
them to create and explore as a group.
