Link to play lists of the European dates Full Bruce Set Lists in Europe Just picked up a great triple CD today Deep Down In the Vaults, all that can be said is WOW! The first CD is pretty hot, the others not listened to yet, but the liner notes are favorable. The CD one, first song is "The Wind and the Rain" and the guitar will remind you of Jimmi Hendricks. It is 18:43 in time, recorded March, 1970, West End, NJ. Other songs on the first CD include "You Mean So Much to Me," May 31, 1973, Richmond, VA WGOE-AM radio station. "Rosalita" from an unknown date in 1973. A song titled "Phantoms," later to become "Zero and Blind Terry," from Blauvelt, NY July/August 1973. This same session produced "The Fever," as we have heard. "...Saint in the City" finishes with Bruce doing extra rap at the end. "Thundercrack," recorded at Joe's Place, Boston, MA, January 6, 1974, as well as "Blinded By The Light" same session, finish number one. The second CD starts with Jungleland and "Backstreets," includes strings in these very rare alternate versions. The Record Plant, March/July, 1975. Follow this with a 3 song encore, with the Miami Horns from Waterbury, CT, August 21 1976 of "4th of July Asbury Park," "Raise Your Hand," and "You Can't Sit Down!" 4 Darkness outtakes (rare), and then "Prove It All Night," from the Community Theater, Berkley, CA July 1, 1978. The quality on this is excellent as it was a produced version for a single flip side, that was later cancelled. The 13th song finishes the CD, "Hungry Heart," Copenhagen, Denmark, as Bruce joins a Danish band named Malurt an unplanned gig on stage. The third CD1-5, covers tunes after E Street, some rare live appearances are the versions. Different takes of some of the Blood Brothers recording sessions ("Blood Brothers," "This Hard Land," "Secret Garden"). A complete take of "Back in Your Arms" appears, this may be the same version as on Tracks. "Little Latin Lupe Lu" with E Street from February 21, 1995, "Never Be Enough Time," Nick's Fat City, Pittsburgh, PA October 1995 with Joe Grushecky. The notes indicate Bruce's guitar work is reminiscent of the 1978 period. The third CD completes with a May, 1996 European Tour of "Adam raised a Cain."So far, so good. An excellent addition to my collection, and the Vault continues to grow. This is one of the best quality CD's my hands have been on in a while. This will need to be test driven on the Adcom soon, and loud when it happens. Link to the collection for more details. Houli |
