Two Rounds Over, Gilmore in the Lead! The first two rounds are complete, we head into Saturday with two players each. Surprises? O'meara, Couples and Duvall are almost all gone. Almost, because Kevin and Nick were smart enough to pick dark horses and humans in Hoch and Singh, allowing Duvall to make their weekend line ups. (Nick, Duvall is tied with Couples, would you rather Freddie for the weekend?)Other surprises: Well Gilmore is in the lead. Duck decoy and pool cue carrying Gilmore has selected a foursome playing 8 rounds at 575! Compare this to the expertise of Kevin and Nick, at 582 (which is probably the dollar difference in their gof equipment investment) and you understand the reason for surprise. Not as surprising, Houli is tied with Gilmore at 575. Handicappers have Gilmore with advantage, as the Ultra Arrogant Love III and Woods will be wearing Gilmore colors, while Houli's team is all foriegn with Montgomerie, and Els. "I am proud to be playing on the weekend, but even more proud to be a member of Houli's Leprechaun squad" quoted Els to a pestering press corp. Clubber at 578 is in the hunt with Woods and Mickelson, while Whitey is hanging tough at 579 and a weekend troop of Elkington and Els. Clubber was overheard giving his Phil some advice before today's round "Phil, stay out of Woods today." We are not sure what that means, but we hope the left handers wife was not listening. There is also curiosity of whether Whitey did his recruiting at the Elks Club? "No" chirped Whitey, "This twosome was taken from the train tracks in Chicago. Disappointedly we were disallowed to play in a Christmas outing because of the tournaments' theme of 'Noel'. "It's been a tougher road for us, but we are here" finalized Whitey. Well the action starts again today, all the twosomes are in place, weather looks good, and we are off. Stay tuned for updates and headlines as they become available. Houli |
