Here are some pictures from our recent trip to Guadeloupe.
The beach was really beautiful there and the palm trees helped to keep us from getting fried!
I love to play frisbee on the beach!
After swimming, I liked to find a good spot to rest with a good view.
The Centre International de Plongee (CIP) was the base
of our dive operations. It was located directly across
from Pigeon Island and the Jacques Cousteau marine reserve.
Here is the budding marine biologist just prior to his first SCUBA dive.
on the boat stowing our gear...
Tom was one of my dive partners. He is a student from
Toulouse taking some time off enjoying the islands.
Daniel really caught on fast to both snorkeling and SCUBA.
The water was so unbelievably clear that you could almost see as much snorkeling as diving.
A good shot of Basse Terre from the dive boat.
Guadeloupe is really two islands, Basse Terre and Grande Terre. The 'touristy' spots
are on Grand Terre (where we stayed) and the best diving is off Basse Terre. Every day,
we traversed roads such as this to get from one island to the other.
When we were not diving or on the beach, we went to the rain forest.
The rain forest has several good waterfalls
After a long hike, jumping into one of these pools was a good way to beat the heat.
The country side in Guadeloupe offers many sites such as this. And we heard
those roosters every morning from all over the island!
Here is another resident enjoying a lazy afternoon in the sun.
