MANHOOD
As a child I had my woods, where I learned to be a man,
I absorbed everything that they taught me.
Let me go with the clothes I wore - I would survive.
Give me a lighter and a knife - I would live.
Add a rifle and rope - I could be a GOD!
I went to college to become a man,
where my woods had become a woman,
so I absorbed everything about her.
I mastered her erogenous zones,
but experimented none.
I joined the Corps to be a man,
I absorbed what they told me.
Heart breaker and a Life taker,
I worshiped women so that they may worship me!
I took my life for I was worshiped but unloved.
I had to look at my life, so that I may live as a man.
I went to my childhood, to take out the garbage.
I learned right and wrong - not just "absorb it!".
I had to look back where I learned to be a man - To become one.
I am an alcoholic but not worthless,
I am a Marine but not uncaring,
I am a man but not a God.
As long as I remember the woods I will never be,
worthless or unloved.
