Island Line is a 630 V D.C. third-rail electrified railway, which uses modified former London Underground Limited '1938 stock' trains for its busy services. It is at present 13.44 km long, but there is considerable potential for route extensions. It is situated off the south coast of England, on the Isle of Wight, and connects the holiday towns of Ryde, Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin, which are located on the eastern side of this picturesque and beautiful island.
