CLASSES BEGIN THE WEEK OF Sept. 3, 2002 (10 weeks at CEC unless otherwise noted)VOCATIONAL SKILLS  (Seniors 55+ all classes $20) To insure a place in our computer classes, fill out and mail in the pre-registration form.  Classes are held at the CEC, (address on front of brochure) unless otherwise noted.

Internet/Windows  T/Th  9-12 am     $40  Bakken

- Learn Windows concepts and the link to the World Wide Web and Internet Explorer; tips and shortcuts for web browsing; manage search engines; use e-commerce to shop; set up and use e-mail (send/receive attachments); copy/paste between the Internet and other programs; and check for Internet security.  Book extra

Keyboarding  Skills  Wednesday.   6-8:30     $35  Rader

- Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Keyboarding, 10 key.  Come have fun learning to keyboard and 10 key.  You will learn to work with a mouse, get in and out of a computer through Windows and improve your speed and accuracy.

Does the computer frighten you?  Do you want to learn Windows?  This course will introduce the students to Windows  and concepts of word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing.  Windows, Word  and Excel  programs will be used.  Tips will be given on purchasing a computer and how to use the computer you own.

IBM compatible computers will feature self-paced, individualized, computer applications (Windows, Microsoft Office--Word & Excel, PowerPoint, Access--Word Perfect--Keyboarding and 10 key.) Books extra

Have fun learning the basics of word processing using Microsoft Word.  Wed Class - Nightly lesson with instructor and self-paced, individualized instruction and requires a book purchase. 

*Excel, Power Point, Access    Thursday 6-9 p.m.     $40 Paul Book extra

This class offers instruction in all three programs.  Class

is individualized and self-paced with instruction from the teacher.  Excel is a spreadsheet program; PowerPoint is for making presentations; Access is a database program.

Each student will have a computer to search for family roots on the Internet.  . find records which contain relationships  , find others research results, Find your cousins  put the families together with Census records, Immigrant records online

Genealogy/Internet –Intermediate. legacy data base     Friday  1-4 p.m.  $40  Rader

Each student will have a computer to search for family roots on the Internet.  and the Mon. class. Download and installing software from the web,  Create a rootsweb webspace and load Legacy created Genealogy web pages, Using the ulead free photo editor ,  Image format basics ,  Importing GEDCOM files into legacy , find and merge duplicate people in your Legacy file,  adding and scanning pictures  to Legacy,  splitting family files ,  creating web pages with Legacy and other tools     and more

SATURDAY CLASSES

Managing your files in Windows, one-4 hr. class          $12.50, 9-1 p.m. (Oct. 12)  CEC  Rm. A-4  Bakken – Very beneficial for understanding file locations and attachments.

E-Mail Class One – 4 hr. Class, $12.50, 9-1 p.m. (Oct. 19) CEC Rm. A-4, Bakken Sat. - Learn to set up Web based e-mail to use when you leave home to travel; maximize your e-mail program; send and receive attachments; download files; get rid of “spam” mail; set up a group address book; reply to e-mails; save e-mail photos; forward e-mails; eliminate “forwarded” e-mail addresses; make a folder for your saved e-mail attach.

Quicken   4 – 2 hour classes  CEC  A-4, $25.00, 1:30-3:30 p.m. (9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19) Rader– Learn how to put your checkbook and all of your finances on this program and with one key access your income tax information

OLDER ADULT PROGRAMS

Classes begin the week of Sept. 3, 2002.  Register in class.  Classes are open to all community members, age 55 and older.  The activity programs listed below are available at the Senior Center, Lincoln Village Park at 3480 Routier Road, Sacramento.  For further information, call 366-3133.  A $10 registration fee + materials will be charged per term, per class.

Includes 3 field trips for 2 hrs. each in addition to the regular genealogy classes.
