Optical Fibres with Water Side Pit

Abstract:
We consider the design of single mode fibres with
side pit for evanescent field based aqueous chemical
sensors. The design principle is maximization of pit power. The
design exhibit birefringence and consequent polarization
maintaining properties. For the range of design parameters
considered, maximizing the birefringence is roughly
equivalent to maximizing the pit power.
