Abstract:
Near-field scanning optical microscopy is used to
determine the field structure within a
noncircularly symmetric optical fiber.
The output from an elliptical core fiber is measured and found
to be in good agreement with the field predicted using a point
matching method and fiber parameters
determined from the preform.
