DO IT YOURSELF PROJECTBuilding the Vintage Altec Lansing VOTT A5 Speaker
2) The 1005B High Frequency Horn is a full multicellular, 2 by 5 horn each cell being truly exponential. It is designed to operate from 500 Hz to 15,000 Hz. 3) The 288C High Frequency Driver is designed to cover the frequecy range from 500 Hz to 15,000 Hz. To meet the requirements of high quality, low distortion, and wide frequency range, extremely close manufacturing tolerances are maintained. The high frequency diaphragm is made from .002in. aluminum and uses the famous tangential compliance. The voice coil is edge-wound from flat aluminum ribbon wire to reduce weight and to increase efficiency. The magnetic field is supplied from an Alnico Permanent Magnet. 4) The 515B Low Frequency Woofer is a 15-inch unit designed especially to reproduce efficiently low frequencies from 50 to 1000 Hz. It uses Altec Lansing principle of edge-wound voice coil from flat ribbon wire for greater efficiency and power producing ability. A large Alnico V Permanent Magnet supplies the magnetic field. Pictures showed the 515B mounted with the Audioquest Clear 3 speaker cable connected. Behind the flare was filled with fibre glass wood.
