the Gateway Client Guide

This chapter describes the Gateway Client module and gives the instructions to its usage.

These two icons reflect the status of the connection. The first one indicates that the connection is not established. Once the other is displayed, the connection is present and the gateway is functioning (when the status bar does not indicate otherwise). Clicking the icon the user can either connect or disconnect from the gateway.

The status of connection, either it was successfull or not, will be displyed in the status bar.

When the client disconnects from the gateway, the server reset command is set as a simplest way to initialize the server. Thus the server will be reset and ZIPS XINU OS restarted.

These two icons allow to see the contents of the received packets. Clicking either of them switches the mode of operation to a packet view mode. The first button shows the packet received prior to the current one. The second shows the packet received after to the current one.

This icon is used to switch to the dialog mode. In that mode the user sees the ASCII text interpretation of what was received form the gateway and can write the text responses. In other words the terminal mode is initiated.

Clicking this icon shows the log file, generated during the gateway session. Writing to a log file occurs while the Log checkbox is checked.
