A plastic device with 8 parallel channels, shown in Fig. 1 has been fabricated. Fig. 1a is the overall view of the device. A high voltage used for electrospray can be connected to the red banana connector. The view from the end with taped tubes is shown in Fig. 1b. At the exits, the i.d. of the tubes is ~100 um and the o.d. is ~250 um. The i.d. of the channels in the plastic body is ~350 um. Please note that the whole device, including the ESI tips, is made in a single casting process. Fig. 2 shows a plastic device of a different geometry.
Of course, both the quantity and density of channels of such devices can be increased and the devices can be made compatible with certain standard devices, such as microtiter plates.
