The Air Force Marathon
Crazy? Yes, quite. On September 19, 1998 I ran my first and hopefully not last marathon -- the second annual US Air Force Marathon. I've had this as a goal since college, so I thought now was as good a time as any. I really can't explain why anyone would want to do it to themselves, especially after Philippides died the first time too! Marathons are 26.2 mile courses, and this one wasn't exactly the easiest. It has some really fun hills in it (some marathons are all flat). I hoped to finish in about 4:00, but developed some rather interesting pain toward the end. It slowed me down quite a bit and I finished in 4:55. Now the goal isn't just to run a marathon, but to run it in under 4:00! | ||||
