50E monoblock... |
The
Quad 50E (or 50D
as it was called in some parts of the world) is a 50W
transistor monoblock originally designed for professional
studio applications - indeed, the BBC
in the UK used many as their standard monitor
amp. Today though, many are used in domestic
hifi systems. The styling obviously draws much from the
303, but the 50E actually began manufacture
just before the 303 in 1967.
The great strength of this amp is the variety
of output impedance, and input
voltage taps that can be selected using the adaptors
and transformers/attenuators shown.
