is featured a rather weary looking QCII preamp/control
unit (the mono predecessor to the Control
22) from
the late 1950's.
- This unit's interesting as it's suffering from
a fairly common Quad
condition - spot oxidisation, or rusting of the main casing. The most frequent
cause of this is obviously storage in moist conditions, but it's exacerbated
by problems with the finishes used by Quad during certain periods - hairline
faults in the paintwork allowing moisture to attack the metal. The only
remedy for this is sanding and respraying - unfortunately this will reduce
the vintage value, but will make it visually more acceptable...
