This can be made from some thin cardboard and some cotton string; it takes quite a long time to learn to use it

The holes round the edge make a hissing noise. You make it spin by alternately stretching the twisted string between two outstretched hands and relaxing so that the string untwists and then twists the other way.

This one has LEDs on it, you need two, one each side exactly spaced so it balances. Battery box in one hand (2 AAA), two flexible wires tangled with string going to disc, it's a bit hard to use but big wow factor.
