The Bayer Solar and Advanced Technology Boat Race
The Bayer Solar and
Advanced-Technology Boat Race sports endurance, speed, innovation and
technology and is considered the boat race equivalent of the
internationally recognized World Solar Challenge for cars.
The 1999 race attracted
40 entries from around Australia and overseas with numerous entries
received from schools, universities, businesses and individuals with an

commercial boating activities. Past international entrants have included
teams from Japan, Russia, and Germany.

powered by a non-polluting power source. The boat race provides for the
sharing of ideas and theories in the application of renewable energy for
leisure or commercial purposes
There were more than
5,000 spectators on the shores of Australia's capital, Canberra's Lake
Burley Griffin during the race, which included families, tourists, race
competitors, politicians, commercial companies and government agencies
