Taphozous perforatus:

     This species is smaller than T.nudiventris.Unlike T.nudiventrus the bases of the wing membranes near the body as well as the lower body are covered with fur. There is a large gular (throat) sac in males rather than females.

     Range of species expand from Africa south to Sahara, Egypt, Arabia and to Pakistan and western India.

     It is not common in Jordan and one specimen was recorded 2 Km east Ghor al Safi (Qumsiyeh et al 1992).

     The name perforatus is Latin meaning perforated; in reference to fact that the tail membrane is perforated to accommodate the tail.
