Rhinolophus hipposidores:

This is smallest Rhinolophus in the region. Connecting process of sella is blunt in a side view, with its lower extremity projecting distinctively downwards. Fur long and colour ranges from grayish brown to deep brown, with the underside being paler.

The range of the species is from Southern Europe, northern Africa south to Eritrea and southwestern Asia east to Kashmir.

It is more common in the northern Mediterranean climatic zone than in the more arid regions of the south so that it is limited in distribution to the northern mountains of Jordan.

These bats are found as solitary animals in caves, ruins and other dark dwellings. Usually, one or two young are born in June or July following a gestation period of about seven weeks.
