Taphozous nudiventris: This Bat lower body is not cover with hear and hence the name nudiventris . The range of this species expand from Savanna and semiarid regions from Mauritania through Somalia north through Sudan, Egypt, and east through Arabia and south western Asia to India and Burma. It roosts in old building , small caves that receive a good amount of light, and crevices in small sandstone hills. This bat was found to feed on the cotton leaf moth (Spaodoptera littoralis) in Egypt. Large deposits of fat are found in the abdominal regions, similar to those found in Rhinopoma, and this may be the source of reserve nutrition in the hibernating season. It is found to mate in September and October, hibernate from November to March and females separate from the males to deliver their young in April. Although migration has been suggested but there is no direct evidence for this behavior. |
