Nycteris thebaica:
The first record of this species in Jordan was in April 1999 by the RSCN fauna team in the Mujib wild life nature reserve during the bats and rodent survey. It dose not mistnetted or trapped , it enter Raddas station that found in the lower part of the reserve by chance; then the researchers aware about it and immediately caught it by hopping nets. Two specimen were caught ; male and female and they are now in the research and survey section in the RSCN. This bat is distinguished by the fleshy longitudinal projections on the dorsal region of the elongated head and the shape of the skull. which creates the impression of a slit face or depression in the mid-facial region. The colour of the the back is brownish in adults whereas immature specimens have more grayish colours. Range of species is the savanna region of Africa throughout northern Africa and as far north and east as Palestine and the Arabian Peninsula to Oman. This species found to feed on Orthoptera and may also feed on scorpion. It roosts in hollow trees and forage close to the ground and near tree canopies.
