1. Who Created Poke'mon?
A. Satoshi Tajiri, a video-game designer who grew up outside Tokyo, Japan. As a boy, he spent hours playing video games and collectiong bugs (especially beetles), tadpoles, crayfish and other small creatures. When he grew up, he based many Poke'mon characters on those creatures-and he created a game based on collecting them. (The idea of trading Poke'mon by linking two Game Boys came to him when he imagined a bug crawling back and forth on the cable). His friend, Ken Sugimori, actually drew all the Poke'mon.

2. Have a lot of new Poke'mon appeared since the game first came out?
A. There are still only 151 Poke'mon to capture and play with in the video and card games. But new Poke'mon have been introduced in the TV show and movie; their names are Snubbull, Marril, Donphan, and the ultra-cute Togepi.

3. Are the names of Japanese Poke'mon different than American Poke'mon?
A. Most Poke'mon names are changed when the games are released in North America. For example, Arbo was changed to Ekans, which in English is snake spelled backward. In Japan, Ash's name is Satoshi and Gary's name is Shigeru. But Pikachu's name is the same around the world.

4. I think Pikachu is a boy; my friend thinks it's a girl. Who's right?
A. Actually, Poke'mon are not boys or girls; they're... well... they're Poke'mon!

5. How can I capture Mew?
A. The only way to catch Mew is to win a Nintendo contest or to participate in an official Poke'mon event in your city. (Some people say you can capture Mew by using a cheating device, such as the Game Shark. But be warned: This may cause problems that force you to erase saved data. Also, there are no cheat codes in Red and Blue versions of the game)

6. How can I capture Mewtwo in the Red and Blue versions?
A. After defeating the Elite Four at Indigo Plateau, travel to the Unknown Dungeon and look for Mewtwo in the basement. When you find Mewtwo, don't try to fight-just toss your Master Ball (the ball given to you by the President of Sliph Co) at him.

7.Can I use the Poke'mon I've collected with other games to play Poke'mon Stadium?
A. Yes, you can transfer the Poke'mon that you captured in Red, Blue and Yellow games to Poke'mon Stadium using a special adapter. Then you can use your Game Boy Poke'mon to battle it out on your TV screen-and see all the special battle moves up close and in 3D.

8. What's the difference between a preconstructed deck and a theme deck?
A. Preconstructed decks contain 60 cards that are put together by Poke'experts. You just open the deck and start playing. Theme decks can be added to your preconstruceted deck to change game play. The four different kinds of cards in both decks are Basic Poke'mon, Evolution, Energy and Trainer cards.

9. Who provides the voices for Pikachu, Meowth and Ash in the TV show?
A. Pikachu is performed by a Japanese woman named Ikue Otani. Meowth is played by Addie Blaustein. Ash is played by Ronnie Taylor. You can write to them at:
