Dear Shimadzu Sales Staff:
I have seen constant reference to a website in the sci.chem newsgroup at www.deja.com/usenet regarding your company and it's
products. After being continually bombarded with new updates monthly, I decidied to see
what the fuss was about. I must say that I am appalled at your conduct as a company
(domestic and international). The facts seem quite convincing!
What I didn't find was a point by point rebuttal (and I'm not talking about the inane
rationalizations that you offered on your homepage regarding a former employee). Why has
Shimadzu (as far as I have seen) never challenged the veracity or truthfulness of this
information? Shimadzu seems content to sweep things under the rug as evidenced by your
censoring activities. [Dear Shimadzu: Isn't it time to order a new broom?]
After all this time, I have come to the realization that somebody is apparently
uttering truth after truth and Shimadzu's answer is to try to discredit the messenger.
Does that sound professional? Your conduct is repulsive! The lab I oversee is in the
market for a TOC analyzer and a GC-MS. Let me say quite frankly that these are two
products that we will not be buying from Shimadzu. That's about $90K of equipment that
another reputable and upstanding vendor will get. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Dear Shimadzu Corporation:
This exact message included below [Shimadzu Instructed to Cease and
Desist] was on the AP wire last week. What does this say about Shimadzu's ability to
solve problems? I have your equipment in the lab and it has been more problems than
solutions considering how you pride yourselves. I abhor your online tactics! What are you
trying to hide? It's a good question.... answer it! [No, Shimadzu will not answer
it.... they're in denial!]
I have been in the market for both a GC-MS and a LC-MS. After reading the story on the AP
wire, I will be exploring other options that don't include Shimadzu. Your censoring
actions are deplorable! It's hard to imagine that Shimadzu is all the things portrayed on
that anti-Shimadzu homepage but stories like this don't help
Shimadzu's credibility either. Consider me a former customer at this time!
n.b. TOC analyzer = $25,000, GC-MS = $50,000, LC-MS = $100,000, and
another GC-MS = $50,000.... that $225,000 in equipment sales that Shimadzu has forfeited
because of their disgusting censoring tactics. And Shimadzu (despite it's time and
efforts) has been unsuccessful in halting the dissemination of The Ugly Truth About
Shimadzu! Sounds like they have shot themselves in the foot.... twice!
n.b. According to the Shimadzu Financial Summary for the year ended March 31, 1999,
Shimadzu net sales and income continues to lull below those figures reported for the year
ended March 31, 1992. That's 7 years of stagnant growth and 7 years of substandard
performance. That's also 7 years of inferior products which customers have shunned in
droves!
n.b. While most other analytical instrumentation vendors have witnessed double digit
growth year after year, Shimadzu has watched their numbers decline by single digits thru
most of the 1990s. Do you want this crap in your lab?
Other HPLC companies pump promises.... Shimadzu
just sells SH*T!
