(Paris 1743 - 1794)
French scientist. He is considered the founder of modern chemistry. He studied oxygen and hydrogen, the composition of water and air. He enuncied the principle of mass conservation: "All bodies can be transformed but never destroyed". He divided substances in elements and compounds.
