Brief Description

CSTP (Control System Tuning Package) is the Program Package for optimization and improvement of PI/PID-control loop tuning and plant efficiency.

There are different computer packages for optimal tuning of PI/PID controllers which improve process optimization, stability and plant efficiency . The CSTP advantageously differs from known packages:

Calculates controller optimal parameters based on the highest accuracy of plant identification and validation
Takes into consideration specific requirements placed upon a tuned process dynamics and robust stability conditions
Creates the extended database of the process models and controller optimal parameters
Identifies not only inertia and integrating processes but differentiating links as well as what is important for complex systems modeling and tuning.
Calculates optimal filter using the spectral power of real noise

Tuning Flow Chart

Three main stages are needed for a control loop tuning (see flow chart to the right):

Data acquisition
Process model identification
PI/PID Controller parameters synthesis

The last two are done automatically by the CSTP Package

Generation unit model creation needs two first stages only.

Data acquisition

The first stage of a control loop tuning (or a process identification) is data acquisition. The data is the time response to input changes: SP or CO (see a tuned system structure to the right). For the closed loop experiment, the data includes {PV,CO,SP}, for the open one - {PV, CO}.

SP - Set Point; CO - Controller Output; PV - Process Value;

Process model identification

The highest accuracy of a process identification is achieved by the two-stage procedure (see a flow chart to the right):

Frequency response identification
Model transfer function computation using frequency response

PI/PID Controller parameters synthesis

Optimization of PI/PID parameters is fulfilled automatically by a compromise between robust requirements and the extremum of :a dynamic quality index (OV, RT, ST, integral quality indexes, noise influence limitation etc.)

under consruction

New version - CSTP04 now is under construction. CSTP04 will include additionaly :

Usage of the Matlab package is no long needed
A new graphical dynamical interface is used
The set of allowed models is substantially extended
Optimal noises filter designed automatically
The controller types are especially tailed to meet various requirements of Bailey, MAX and Westinghouse PID controller
In performing the optimal tuning the final element nonlinearities are also taking into consideration
