Day 1: The three (3) subjects have tenatively taken residence in the small fissle-like made abode. There is not much movement and they’re not eating much. I have acquired several products
to enforce positive behaviour. They are categorized below:
a) Environmental
- Exploratory Adjunct (puzzle jungle)
- Other external mouse-friendly fun sites
b) Entertainment
- Wheel
- Spherical Exploratory Vehicle
c) Food stuffs
- Small, marble sized seed treats
- Synthetic wild berry “puffs”
- A “veggie” treat stick
- Mouse pellets
You can see the Holstein Behavior Reinforcement Matrix if you want.
I checked the hanging water bottle and noticed their aggresive attack on the bottle in an attempt to get water. I thought maybe the weight/pressure of the water was too much for these mice to push in, so i
tapped it and water came out, but they have to really work at it to get much water. I have introduced an internal water vessel for their direct consumption. I managed to get Shadrack and get her into the Spherical Exploratory Vehicle (SEV), a very highly advanced critter contraption. She explored most of the floor while Jones followed her anxiously.
My plan was to get all three (separately) in the SEV for a short exploratory jaunt while I built their Exploratory Adjunct (EA). When Abendigo was
strolling around, I noticed he speant more time with Jones than the other mouse compatriots. I believe they were having a communique with regards to Abendigo’s instructions and progress, directly from The
Prince himself. T his was entriguing.
Later, once the EA was built, they each explored the unit, although most (except Shadrack) couldn’t climb the circular tube to get to the perch. I had a really tough time getting Meshack out.
I also got vitamins for every-other-day addition to their health.
Day 2: The three new residents have started being more ambulatory. They have started eating more and are acting more like a coherent group, although a gender fissure is still quite
evident. I believe the water trick did them good. I took off the top canopy from the playground and placed it inside their living area. They immediately came out to investigate and seem to enjoy
exploring it.
Shadrack is the most outgoing, for now. She was the first to attempt climbing on my hand and I was able to pick her up of her own volition for the first time tonight.
Day 3: The mice are much more active now. Shadrack came into my hand several times and I was able to take her out of the habitat in my hands and she didn’t seem too skittish. Meshack will
probably be the next, with Abendigo and his iron will following. I’ve also introduced a clicking sound with a Food stuff’s treat when a mouse climbs into my hand and can be raised into the air. Will
increase the time and frequency of this over the next several days.
The group is starting to cohere alittle more, but not there yet. The females are more active than the male. I’m considering building a miniature electroshock system just in case I have to introduce
serious behavioural modification. We’ll see.
Day 5: Same general stuff. Their routine is to hang out in during the day, during which I have a heating unit putting off warm alpha waves, then when I arrive later in the day, their habitats
get brought into the main examination room. Background noise, used to simulate gregarious activity is introduced in the form of a TV or radio. Lights are turned on more, also. I haven’t been
able to determine their excremental patterns, such as the frequency and location of, as we say in the Scientific World, dookying. My goal there is to find their location and introduce a potty-training device
with some behavioral modification reinforcement. That could be interesting.
